The Judge's Verdict

RubyPlay is a sharp, mid-tier slots studio worth a spin if you check the RTP your casino has loaded first — because that number can quietly drop below the headline figure.

✔ The good

  • Award-winning Immortal Ways mechanics with strong max wins
  • MGA-licensed and widely integrated via major aggregators
  • Polished visuals and genuinely strong mobile builds
  • Mostly medium volatility — steadier than high-variance rivals

⚠ The catch

  • Configurable RTP means operators can load lower-return versions
  • The on-screen game name doesn't reveal which RTP version you're playing
  • Smaller catalogue than the big studios
  • Leans heavily on the Immortal Ways formula across titles

In Depth Review

RubyPlay made its name with the Immortal Ways engine — a cascading, expanding-wilds system that powers its best-known titles. Immortal Ways Buffalo is the flagship: a high-ways American-plains pokie with a big four-figure top win that took Best Ortak Slot Game at the 2024 B.F.T.H. Arena Awards. You'll also find the Immortal Ways Diamond original, Immortal Ways 3 Fates, and the Hyper and Link It Up series across most decent libraries.

Playing them feels brisk and modern: clean animations, snappy cascades, and bonus rounds that build rather than just dump a big hit and end. Volatility sits mostly medium, so wins land at a reasonable clip without the brutal dry spells of high-variance Megaways clones. The mobile builds are genuinely good.

Here's the catch, and it's the one that matters. RubyPlay ships many games in multiple RTP configurations, and your casino chooses which one to run. Headline returns sit in the mid-90s, but lower-floor versions run noticeably below that — and some operators quietly pick the worst one. The game name on screen tells you nothing about the version underneath. Always open the info panel and read the actual RTP before you stake real money.

Reputation & awards

RubyPlay carries a solid industry standing for an independent studio: MGA-licensed, integrated through major aggregators like SOFTSWISS, and a B.F.T.H. Arena 2024 award-winner for Immortal Ways Buffalo. Reviewers rate the games as polished and fair-on-paper. The recurring complaint isn't the studio's integrity — it's the configurable-RTP model, which hands operators room to short-change you if you're not watching.
